More than 50,000 female workers get overseas jobs

A total of 51,071 female workers got overseas jobs abroad till November 2013, said an official in the government.

In 2012 little more than 37,000 workers went abroad after receiving training from different government training centers,he said.

The official said, “Recently the government has introduced some training courses for overseas workers, both male and female,aimed at easing their linguistic problems at the workplaces.???

According to the ministry, 3,71,647 workers went abroad with jobs between January and November 2013, and sent remittances to the tune of 11,560.48 million US dollars.

It said workers must participate in a two-month orientation course and they will have to learn language, culture and social norms in the countries they are going for work.

Talking to BSS Secretary of Expatriates Welfare and Overseas Employment Ministry Dr Zafar Ahmed Khan said the government has also introduced insurance system to bring female workers under insurance cover and ensure personal cell phone to bring them under mobile network for communications with family members.

“The government took a massive programme to resolve the unemployment problems through increasing vocational training programmes for unemployed youths and creating more overseas employment,??? he said.

The secretary said, “We have installed 35 new vocational training centres to turn unemployed youths into skilled human resources and provide them with employment abroad. Some 65,000 skilled workers are trained through the centres annually.??? —BSS
