Microsoft to set up innovation centres in city


DHAKA, OCT 1: Microsoft, the global IT giant, will set up innovation centers in Dhaka to impart training to students for increasing their capacity building on information technology.
To this end, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed today (1 October 2013)  between the Ministry of Information Communication Technology (ICT) Microsoft in the conference room of Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) here. Additional Secretary of Ministry of ICT Kamaluddin Ahmed and Jamie Harper, president and general manager of Southeast Asia region, signed the MoU on behalf of their respective organisations. Secretary of Ministry of ICT Nazrul Islam Khan attended the function as the chief guest.
Pubudu Basnayake, country manager of Microsoft, Bangladesh, Susanta Kumar Saha, Joint Secretary of Ministry of ICT, and Jabed Ali Sarker, director of BCC, among others, also attended the function.
After signing of the MoU with Microsoft, the ICT ministry secretary said, “We are taking some preparations for building capacity of the young generation on the ICT and that’s why we need a pathfinder like Microsoft as they can assist us in carrying forward the ICT activities in the country.???
