Malindo Air to fly KualaLumpur-Chittagong route

chittagong_webMalindo Air is set to start direct flights on the KualaLumpur-Chittagong route on January 16. The airline will operate three direct flights between the port city and the Malaysian capital on Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, says a press release.

Chittagong is Malindo’s second destination in the country after Dhaka. Malindo believes that there are tremendous untapped socioeconomic opportunities and mutually beneficial collaboration between Malaysia and the communities of Chittagong, the statement added.

Malindo will deploy a brand new 737-900ER aircraft, which has a seating capacity of 12 in business class and 168 in economy class. The promotional fare for the route starts at Tk 21,000 for a return economy class ticket.

The airline said the direct flights would offer Chittagong’s business and leisure travellers a direct gateway to the east and better access to destinations such as Jakarta and Bail in Indonesia, which are also served by Malindo Air.

Passengers flying from Chittagong will be given baggage allowance of 25kg, while those flying on the Kuala Lumpur to Chittagong
route will enjoy up to 35kg of check-in luggage allowance in addition to 7kg of carry-on luggage. The number of passengers travelling to Malaysia is increasing rapidly, with some 80,000 Bangladeshis visiting the Southeast Asian nation in 2012, according to official estimates.

The country is a home to around 7 lakh Bangladeshis.
