GlaxoSmithKline Bangladesh approves 300pc cash dividend

12The 41st annual general meeting of GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) Bangladesh Limited was held at Hotel Agrabad, Chittagong recently.

The shareholders approved the Directors’ Report, Audited Accounts for the year 2013 and Auditor’s Report thereon and 300 per cent cash dividend (Tk 30 .00 per share of Tk 10.00 each) to the shareholders, says a press release. The meeting was presided over by Rodrigo Becker, chairman and senior vice-president, area head Africa and developing countries, GSK.

In 2013, the company’s sales growth was 22 per cent over 2012 and the net profit grew 124 per cent. The total amount paid by GSK in exchequer was Tk 19.5 crore.

It may be mentioned here that amongst many other social contributions, GSK also contributes 20 per cent of its profit to building healthcare infrastructure of the country in partnership with Ministry of Health and Family Welfare; by training and developing community healthcare workers at the remotest areas of the country for GlaxoSmithKline Bangladesh Limited.

Among others, M Azizul Huq, managing director, and Sarwar A Khan, Rajib Barua, Masud Khan and Fayekuzzaman—directors, and a number of shareholders attended the meeting.
