Bangladesh Submarine Cable okays 20pc cash, 15pc stock dividends

logo-sThe board of directors of Bangladesh Submarine Cable Company Limited (BSCCL) approved 20 percent cash and 15 percent stock dividends for its shareholders for the year ended on 30 June 2013. The 5th annual general meeting (AGM) of the company was held at Hotel Ocean Paradise in Cox’s bazaar on Saturday( 2 November 2013).

The meeting was presided over by Md Abu Bakar Siddique, Secretary for Ministry of Post and Telecommunications (MoPT) and Chairman of the company and was attended by Jalal Ahmed, Director. M Rafiqul Islam, Col Shahriar Ahmed, Independent Directors, Rabindra Nath Roy Chowdhury, Md Sabur Khan, Dr. Raqlhul Mostafa, Directors, NG Chakrabarty, Independent Director, Md Monwar Hossain, Managing Director, Partner of ACNABIN, Chartered Accountant Moniruzzaman, FCA, and Md Abdus Salam Khan, FCS, Company Secretary, attended the meeting. The shareholders appreciated and thanked board of directors and management team for their commitment and immense contribution to the success and growth of the company. The company has 200 Gbps bandwidth in its possession and presently it is selling out about 40 Gbps for voice and data. By selling submarine cable bandwidth through the SEA-ME-WE-4 cable system BSCCL is considered to be the main telecommunication infrastructure for “Digital Bangladesh??? by the year 2021, it was told at the meeting.
