Air shipment of shrimp fries begins from Cox’sBazar to Jessore

wwPrivate airline True Aviation Airlines Ltd (TAL) starts regular transportation of shrimp fries from the coastal city Cox’s Bazar to Jessore from Thursday (31 January 2014). TAL managing director Masiur Rahman Tusar formally inaugurated the carrier service at his Cox’s Bazar office on Thursday. Most of the shrimp projects, locally known as ‘gher,’ situated in the Khulna region are dependent on fries produced and cultured in hatcheries of the coastal region, especially at Cox’s Bazar and Chittagong. Usually the fries are transported by trucks and cargo vans. A major portion of the fries die on way to the enclaves or gher mainly due to bumpy rides or lack of proper environment when stuck in traffic deadlocks. A huge number of ghers remain vacant in many areas of Khulna, Satkhira, Jessore and Bagerhat during the peak season due to the lack of adequate quality fries. Farmers in many areas, especially in the coastal region, meet their demand with catches from the sea. With the introduction of the new air service, farmers expect to get more quality and healthy fries in the area, which they said would help to increase the overall yield.  “True Aviation will help to reach the fries to the doorsteps of farmers,??? said the managing director, adding they will carry the shrimp fries from Cox’s Bazar to Jessore Airport from where it will be taken to the periphery.
